What Are Nicotine-Free Vapes & Should You Vape Them?
Nicotine-free vapes are becoming increasingly popular for people who want to reduce or stop using nicotine while still enjoying the familiar experience of vaping.
They offer a way to cut down gradually rather than quitting immediately, and offer vapers the ability to enjoy the flavours and ritual of vaping without the addictive element.
What Is a Nicotine-Free Vape?
A nicotine-free vape refers to E-Liquids containing zero nicotine, not the device itself. It doesn’t involve tobacco or combustion and, in simple terms, is vaping without the nicotine.
What’s in Zero-Nicotine Vapes?

While nicotine is removed, the base ingredients are largely the same as standard vape liquids:
- Base liquids (PG & VG): Propylene glycol (PG) and vegetable glycerin (VG) are liquids that create vapour when heated. Read our VG/PG guide to learn more.
- Flavourings: Food-grade flavourings provide tastes like fruit, menthol, dessert, or tobacco-style.
IVG nicotine-free liquids are made with the same high-quality ingredients and tested flavourings as our nicotine-containing products, ensuring you get a product you know you can trust.
Are Nicotine-Free Vapes Safe?
No form of vaping is risk-free. However, nicotine-free vaping removes the addictive component of nicotine.
Key points:
- Nicotine effects: Nicotine can raise heart rate and blood pressure. Using 0mg liquids avoids these effects while still providing the familiar vaping experience.
- Inflammation & irritation: Nicotine-free liquids may cause mild throat or airway irritation in some users, but are generally gentler and much safer than nicotine-containing alternatives.
- Device safety: safe delivery of nicotine is as important as the liquid. Ensure you pair your E-Liquids with safe devices, or use our tried-and-tested PRO devices. If you’re a vaper, you might already have one!
Possible minor side effects:
- Throat or mouth irritation
- Dry cough
- Mild chest sensitivity
- Sensitivity to PG or certain flavourings

Should I Vape Nicotine-Free?
- It depends. If you don't vape or smoke, then do not start nicotine-free vaping. There are no advantages to starting.
- If you're a heavy or moderate smoker, you can try nicotine-free, but a better route is starting with vapes containing nicotine to minimise your chance of smoking.
- If you're a vaper, you can taper down your nicotine strength or use nicotine-free vapes with or without regular vapes to quit or reduce consumption.

I used to use the 4 in one, then I changed to a single flavour (menthol) in the 4 in one. After a while I changed to menthol with nicotine in the pro and then moved to the zero. It made reducing and changing to no nicotine really smooth.
