Why Can’t I Taste My Vape? A Guide To Flavour Fatigue

✨ AI Summary: Can’t taste your vape? This guide explains vape flavour fatigue, also known as vaper’s tongue, and other possible causes of flavour loss. It also covers checking your hardware, and when to contact IVG Support.

Have you ever vaped a single flavour over a long period of time and asked, “why can’t I taste my vape?”

You’re not imagining it. Some adult vapers notice that a flavour they have used for a while now seems muted or flat.

This is often called vape flavour fatigue, or “vaper’s tongue”. There are several possible causes, so it’s worth looking at each one.

What causes vape flavour loss?

Think about how bland food tastes when you’ve got a blocked nose. That’s because so much of what we call flavour actually comes from smell.

One possible explanation is sensory adaptation. Just as you can stop noticing the smell of your own home, or a fragrance you wear every day, your senses may become less responsive to a flavour you vape often.

Other possible causes could be your device or pod. See “Checking your hardware” below.

Changes in flavour perception can have several causes. If you also notice a persistent change in your sense of taste or smell outside vaping, seek medical advice.

Checking your hardware

  • Check your coil or pod. A worn coil or pod can mute flavour, and it’s easy to mistake for flavour fatigue. If replacing a worn coil or pod improves the flavour, this may indicate a hardware issue.
  • Check your battery. A low battery can affect how your device performs. Try fully charging it, then see whether the flavour changes.
  • Check the pod is fitted correctly. Remove the pod and reconnect it, making sure it sits securely in the device.
  • Check the e-liquid level. If your pod is running low, the flavour may seem weaker. Try a new pod to compare.
  • Check how your e-liquid is stored. Heat can affect e-liquid, so store it below 25°C in a clean, dry place and follow the storage instructions on the pack.

Always follow the user guide for your device.

If you use a flavour that you feel is fading, visit the IVG Support Centre, where you’ll be able to read FAQs, receive product support and contact our UK support team.

Vaping products are intended only for adults. Vaping is not risk-free. People who do not smoke or vape should not start.

Nicotine is for 18+ only.

It could be flavour fatigue. A worn coil or pod can also mute flavour, so it’s worth checking your hardware too.

If replacing a worn coil or pod improves the flavour, this may indicate a hardware issue. If not, and the change continues, contact IVG Support. If you also notice a persistent change in your sense of taste or smell outside vaping, seek medical advice.
